  • I’m a real fan of Scrabble though not terribly good at it I must add. I’ve never been able to bring myself to learning the two-letter words by heart and hearing the advice of people who beat me regularly that is one of the first things you have to do to be able to win. Last year I was treated to a 365-day Scrabble calendar by a friend and I was astounded by the number of words I didn’t know! My only consolation when I play Scrabble (mostly on Facebook) is that a majority of people play it for fun and not competitively, which means that if you put down a good word which also scores high, it’s always appreciated.

  • For what it’s worth, I thought the light-shedding answer was “watt,” which is also in “elbow attachment.” Of course, in a crossword, you’d count the lights to see how many letters you needed. Still, I now have “bowat” as a new word in my lexicon – can’t wait to try it out in the pub 😉
